Cover and Plagiarism ...

one thing i have learned today ...

that what is called "Cover" in the music world is pure "Plagiarism" in the academic world of research ...

i was struck by how the two are the same but treated differently in the two worldviews ...

in music ... when someone played and recorded an entire work of somebody else's ... you refer to it as a Cover and you can get away with it ...

but in research if you cite more than necessary somebody's work without his or her permission then you refer to it as Plagiarism ... and definitely it is a no no ...

~

this i have discovered when walking through the different versions of Misirlou ...

... what a lesson ...
