Validity does not carry the same connotations in qualitative research as it it does in quantitative research, nor is it a companion of reliability (examining stability or consistency of responses) or generalizability ( the external validity of applying results to new settings, people, or samples ...).
Whilst Gibbs (2007) says ( as cited by Creswell) ...
Qualitative validity means that the researcher checks for the accuracy of the findings by employing certain procedures, while qualitative reliability indicates that the reseacher's approach is consistent across different researchers and different projects.
(Creswell, 2009, p. 190)
