On knowledge sharing and dissemination

... when circulating a working paper for comments, never put on "citations only permitted with the permission of author"

or "no parts of this paper can be used without permission of author". Rather, say "when using parts of this paper please give proper citation and help yourself". Be delighted if someone wants to quote you ... (p.7)

Validity ... and reliability

thinking on line again ...

Creswell says ...

Validity does not carry the same connotations in qualitative research as it it does in quantitative research, nor is it a companion of reliability (examining stability or consistency of responses) or generalizability ( the external validity of  applying results to new settings, people, or samples ...).

Whilst Gibbs (2007) says ( as cited by Creswell) ...

Qualitative validity  means that the researcher checks for the accuracy of the findings by employing certain procedures, while qualitative reliability indicates that the reseacher's approach is consistent across different researchers and different projects.

 (Creswell, 2009, p. 190)

meaning ... Creswell accepts Gibb's perspective that in qualitative research the concept of validity (kesahan) is about accuracy of findings ... and reliability (kebolehpercayaan) is about consistency of approach ...

next step: we will need to elaborate on how to ensure accuracy of findings and consistency of approach ...

sorry kengkawan, this is a real life comprising routines, research pursuit, papers and sleepless nights ... :)
