pagi pagi ni nak quote this site about definition of ilm - the arabic term ... versus knowledge - the English term ...

"The Arabic term ‘ilm translates to knowledge, but the word has a broader definition than its English counterpart. ‘Ilm encompasses theory, action, and education whereas in English, knowledge is defined as merely the awareness of facts, truths, and principles" ... source ... here

from the above ... obviously knowledge is a subset of  'ilm ...

in real life ... kadang kadang kita ada pengetahuan dan sedikit kemahiran tetapi tak tahu atau tak upaya nak manfaatkan pengetahuan dan kemahiran tersebut untuk kehidupan harian ...

like another anak that i met recently ... she had a certificate from Giat Mara in fashion and design ... but she lacked the confidence and probably the motivation to use that skill ... because there was no urgency for her to do it ...for some kemiskinan dan kesusahan membuat kita berusaha ...
but kalau dari awal kita diberi kefahaman bahawa ilmu is gift and responsibility maka tidak ragu ragu kita berusaha untuk memanafaatkannya ...

Hadith No 3 ...

Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the Salaah (prayer), paying the Zakah (obligatory charity), making the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House, and fasting in Ramadan.
