It's been awhile, let me sambung the review of Hadith 40 compiled by Imam Al-Nawawi rahimahuLLAH ...
Hadith No 23
Hastening to do Good
On the authority of Abu Malik al-Harith bin 'Asim al-Ash'ari(ra) who said: The Messenger of Allah(sas) said:

"Purification is half of iman (faith). Saying 'Al-Hamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) fills the scales. Saying 'Subhanallah wa al-Hamdulillahi' (Exhalted be Allah and Praise be to Allah) fills the space between the heavens and the earth. Salah (prayer) is a light. Sadaqah (charity) is a proof. Sabr (patience) is a shining glory. The Qur'an is an argument either for you or against you. Everybody goes out in the morning and sells themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves."

... the Al-Quran Al-Kareem is evidence for you or against you ...

and every new day is an opportunity to do better ... for continuous improvement ...

and sabr is shining glory, shining light ...

and about acquiring knowledge and acting upon it ...

"This hadith encompasses fundamental principles of the religion and shows the importance of performing good deeds in Islam, through which every Muslim can free himself from the punishment of Allah (swt) in the Hereafter. Sh Jamaal Diwan further reminds us that every day is a new opportunity and that we should make the most of today and ensure that we are freeing (and not destroying) ourselves through our actions. update sini je ye ... something nice to share ... bahasa dan kehidupan

story satu ...
i came across two ladies and a girl yesterday. first lady wanted to buy something and girl was respectfully doing the translation for her because the salesperson could not communicate in both the ladies' language.

after a while i, as usual, the curious one, asked the girl whether the lady was her mother "emak ye?" and she said "yes, both of them :). this is my emak and this one my emak tiri". i was like ... masyaAllah. they were jalan-jalan nak beli itu ini dengan anak jadi translator. And both were mute. communicating in the sign language!

story dua ...
i wanted a piece of cake for my coffee and went to the counter to get one. meanwhile i watched a father who was not quite Melayu but Melayu juga (maknanya mixed lah tu :) buying loads of bits and pieces of pastries and sweet bread and pieces of cakes. next to him his young daughter (primary six i found out later) ... birthday ye i asked the daughter.  she looked at me flabbergasted, slight smile but not answering - hesitantly looking back and forth at her father and me (she must be thinking sibuk je makcik tua ni!). then father said "she's shy" oh i said boleh bahasa melayu tak? saya tanya - meaning her daughter. father kata boleh. sekolah international ye? saya teka-teka je (kegemaran kanak-kanak tadika ... main guessing guessing ... an excellent strategy for second language learning) (interview panjang pulak makcik ni!). ye kat Ampang Sekolah Saifol. Oh and i sambung sure adik tak pandai bahasa melayu ni ... ayah gelak.

okay ... itu je nak cerita. a productive weekend to all :)
